‘Nation supports PM overtures’

Peshawar—The politicians and academicians of KP here Thursday highly praised the speech of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the joint sitting of the Parliament and termed it true reflections of the wishes and aspirations of people of Pakistan and Kashmir.
They said the entire nation and political leadership supported the peace overtures of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for peaceful resolution of the lingering issue of Kashmir besides his bold stance for the country’s defense against any foreign aggression.
They demanded of the Indian leadership to respond positively to Pakistan’s peace overtures announced by the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his landmark address at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and resolve the Kashmir issue that would bring prosperity, development and benefit for the entire region.
They said Pakistani nation stood by our valiant armed forces to give befitting response to any foreign aggression and united to thwart the nefarious designs of enemy.
Commenting on the address of Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the joint sitting of Parliament the other day, Member Provincial Assembly, Rushad Khan said the address of Premier was very comprehensive and balanced which reflected the true wishes and aspirations of the Pakistani nation and people of Kashmir.
The Prime Minister has taken the Parliament into confidence on Kashmir issue, Rushad said adding the PM clearly passed the message that Pakistan had no aggressive designs against any country however, it would forcefully respond if its national security was challenged.
Rushad Khan said Pakistan wanted just and peaceful resolution of the core issue of Kashmir, adding Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be considered its weakness. He said the Prime Minister presented the whole scenario to Parliament about the emerging situation on LoC and government’s endeavors to meet the growing challenges effectively.
The Prime Minister has made it clear that without the resolution of the Kashmir dispute, there could not be any peace between Pakistan and India and in the entire region. He said resolution of Kashmir issue was must for sustainable peace in South Asia.
Khan said independence movement in Indian held Kashmir has entered into decisive stage following martyrdom of Kashmir freedom fighter Burhan Wani Shaheed and the distorting faces and bullets riddle bodies of innocent Kashmires in the held valley cannot reverse this indigenous movement.
Rushad Khan said self determination was the right of Kashmiris as promised to them by the United Nations Security Council and India cannot deny this inalienable right of Kashmiri people.
He said Kashmir was smoldering like volcano and needed urgent attention of the international community and UN to implement its resolutions and give right to self-determination to them.
Prof Dr Hilali, Chairman Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar also termed the PM address very positive saying the PM has given a powerful message to the international community especially India that the entire nation was united for the defence of the country.
Prof Hilali lauded Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for taking the parliament into confidence on the issue of Kashmir and situation on Line of Control besides government measures towards this end.
He said the unprovoked Indian aggression and repeated ceasefire violations on LOC were serious issues to regional peace and security saying Modi Government would be responsible for the whole situation if peace was destabilized in the region.
Dr Hilali said independence movement in Indian Occupied Kashmir has entered into decisive phase after the martyrdom of Burhan Wani and time has come that International Community should pressurize India to give right to self determination to people of held Kashmir as promised to them by United Nations.
Rehmat Salam Khattak, a senior politician termed the address of PM very comprehensive and balanced and urged the international community to help resolve this lingering dispute. He said the PM speech was a continuity of his landmark address at UN General Assembly.
He said that Kashmir issue was boldly highlighted during all the three tenures of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the recent address of PM in joint sitting of parliament was in fact the voice of Pakistani nation and Kashmiris.—APP
