Justice (retd) Nasira Javaid Iqbal has stressed the need for making sincere efforts for curbing the menace of the harassment in the society. She was addressing the participants in an awareness-raising seminar, titled ‘Stop Harassment’, held at the auditorium of the University of Sialkot (USKT) here on Thursday.
CEO of University of Sialkot Rehan Younas, Chairman Board of Governors (BoG) Faisal Manzur, Rana Babar Suhail, head of Department of Media, Press and Publications, Lahore-based anchor Madeeha Masud, Fouzia Waqar, chairperson Public Commission on Status of Women Punjab, Dr Mariyam Nouman, chairperson of Women Entrepreneurs Committee of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and local journalists attended the event.
Nasira Javaid Iqbal said that parents, especially mothers, could play an important role in ensuring mental growth of the children regarding giving respect to women. Fouzia Waqar, chairperson Public Commission on Status of Women Punjab, said that harassment covers a wide range of behaviours of an offensive nature. It was commonly understood as a behaviour that disturbs or upsets women, and it was characteristically repetitive.—APP
