Narcotics seized at Torkham border

khyber agency—The officials of Pakistan Custom Department at Torkham border on Friday foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of narcotics from Afghanistan. Sources said An official of custom department in Torkham, Naeem Khan told media men a truck bearing Afghan registration number (KBL-56925) was stopped on suspicion at Torkham during checking and they recovered 64 Kilograms of fine quality hashish and three kilograms of opium from the hidden cavities of the truck.
The truck driver had escaped leaving the truck on the spot when the officials were searching the vehicle . Sources said. Meanwhile, the political administration officials raided a house in Jamrud subdivision and recovered a large number of locally produced wine (Tarra). Sources in Jamrud said.
