The Convener of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chapter of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyet forum, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, has strongly denounced the continued house arrest of the Mirwaiz in occupied Kashmir.
Syed Faiz Naqshbandi talking to media persons in Islamabad said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was barred from offering obligatory Juma prayers at Srinagar’s central Jamia Masjid for the 7th consecutive Friday and he was under continued house detention for the past almost two months.
He said, in occupied Kashmir the freedom of expression and freedom of free assembly stands snatched by occupation forces even the people there have no freedom of religion.
The use of a Kashmiri youth as human shield by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir is against the Geneva Conventions and amounts to war crimes, he said. He urged the world community to take serious notice of the situation and continued gross human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
Naqshbandi was flanked by the forum leaders, Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt and Syed Ejaz Ahmed who also spoke on this occasion and condemned the ongoing massive human right abuses by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.—KMS
