Commissioner Mirpurkhas Shafiq Ahmed Mehsar has urged the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to expedite the process of the issuance of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) ahead of the upcoming census in the district.
The commissioner, presiding over a meeting about arrangements for census in the district, asked NADRA Assistant Director Abdul Jabbar Sheikh to facilitate the people of the rural areas as well in acquiring CNICs by deploying NADRA mobile teams. He also sought a report to this effect on a daily basis.
NADRA Assistant Director told the Commissioner that over 300 CNICs are being issued daily from NADRA centres in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Khapro.
He pointed out that there has been 20 per cent increase in the issuance of CNICs following the previous census. District Census Officer Muhammad Shafiq told the meeting that 12 training sessions have already been held for the census and house counting which will be held in the district in the second phase from April 25.—APP
