NAB recovers looted money

Quetta—National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan unearthed embezzlement in the MPA fund of the former member of the provincial assembly and gave away cheques to the students after a recovery from the accused who was running an NGO and also happens to be teacher of the students.
Upon a complaint received to the NAB Balochis-tan against accused Ilyas Inderyas, it was established during the probe that teacher of the students using a unique trick, embezzled Rs one million, approved by Ex-Balochistan MPA Jaffer George for deserving students.
Accused, on behalf of the students received the cheques amounting to Rs 1 million approved for 20 students belonging to minority community from DC office Quetta through a process.
He got opened the account of each student in a local bank and handed over cheque books after getting signed blank cheques from each of them using his undue influence. Shortly after the amount was transferred to the account of the students, he got released the same through the blank cheques, he already received from students. Following the investigation carried out by the NAB Balochistan into the cheating, the accused confessed to have embezzled scholarship fund and agreed to deposit the looted amount.
NAB Balochistan after recovery of the sum, distributed among the victims in a ceremony held at NAB Balochistan office. Director General NAB Balochistan Tariq Mehmood Malik vowed to weed out corruption from the society.
“Fraudulent elements should refrain from cheating the innocent people,” he warned and urged the civil society to strengthen the accountability with their support and complaints against the corrupt people. “With the public support, menace of corruption could effectively be diminished,” he added.—APP
