NAB Karachi arrests 973 accused, recovers 30b since its inception

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi since its inception has recovered over 30 Billion (including recoveries in shape of state land) and arrested 973 accused persons.
According to a NAB statement here on Monday, the amount was disbursed among its beneficiaries that included affected people of cheating at large, government departments and banks and process of disbursements among beneficiary departments was still in process. The NAB Karachi during the period received and disposed over 71,640 complaints and completed 3489 Complaint Verifications (CVs) and completed 1528 Inquiries and 887 Investigations while 824 References were filed in Accountability Courts.
The large number of arrests had put an impact and deterrence over the corrupt and had boosted the confidence of complainants whether they were individuals or organizations. Brig. (Retd.) Farooq Naser Awan, SI (M) took charge as Director General NAB Karachi Bureau in October 2018, NAB Karachi had been making its disposal of cases with more vigor and competence during these seven months. Besides, on directions of incumbent NAB Chairman, the open courts (Khuli Kachehris) were conducted to resolve the people’s grievances on every last Thursday of each month.
The press release further added that it was important to understand that at NAB all decisions were taken in board meetings. At NAB Headquarters Executive Board Meeting was chaired by Chairman NAB. Similarly at Regions; Regional Board Meetings (RBMs) were chaired by Regional DG.
At NAB a case passed through the phases of Complaint Verification (CV), Inquiry, Investigation and Reference. The whole process completed within the deadline of 10x months.—APP
