A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested an official of Education Department Mirpurkhas district after Sindh High Court denied his bail plea here Wednesday. According to details, the suspended official Bachu Mal Maheshwari appeared in the court praying for the bail however the bench of justice Salahuddin Panhwar and justice Fahim Ahmed Siddiqui rejected the plea.
A team of NAB arrested the official as soon as he left the court, informed NAB’s spokesman Deputy Director Rizwan Soomro. He informed that he was earlier arrested during a NAB’s raid at his residence on March 10. The spokesman told that the official was accused of accumulating wealth beyond his known source of income and that he had been charged in the NAB reference with fraud, corrupt practices and corruption in various appointments in the department.
Several financial instruments, papers of properties, vehicles and banking transactions worth around Rs. 285 million were recovered from his residence during March 10 raid, he added. “The accused was a key player in the illegal appointments in district education department Mirpurkhas. He has been defrauding the poor applicants and job seekers by giving them fake appointment orders”. The official prevented earlier attempts of NAB for his arrest by obtaining the pre-arrest bails from SHC.—APP
