NA body discusses CPEC, PSDP projects initiated for Gwadar’s development

Islamabad—Meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reforms (PD&R) was held here on Tuesday with MNA Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail in chair during which CPEC/PSDP Projects initiated for the development of Gwadar came under discussion.
During the meeting it was informed that the Gwadar Port will be fully operationalized in 2030 and it will generate upto one million jobs. Gwadar port has been given to China for 40 years from 2007. The Committee recommended that the NOC would not be issued by the Government of Blouchistan for housing schemes at Gwadar.
The additional Secretary M/o Planning, Development and Reforms informed the Committee that Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) Amendment Bill, 2010, would be vetted and finalized within 20 days by the Ministry of Law & Justice.
Furthermore, the new site has been allotted and payment made to Deputy Commissioner Gwadar for the construction of 132KV (AIS) Grid Station at Deep Sea Gwadar port and the associated 132KV D/C transmission line.
The meeting was attended by MNAs, Syed Muhammad Athar Hussain Shah Gillani, Dr. Abdullah, Ms. Shaheen Shafiq, Ms. Shazia Farid, Mr. Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari, Mrs. Shamas-un-Nisa, Mr. Junaid Akbar, Mr. Qaiser Jamal and Ministry of Water and Power.—Agenices
