Muslim lecturer facing sedition charges


So-called Indian secularism has started showing its biting teeth when a senior lecturer was arrested for alleged sedition after a section of students said that he had made anti-India comments at a college in Bani area of Jammu region. Shah Nawaz, the lecturer from Dogripora in Awantipura, has been sacked on the complaint of Hindu students backed by Hinud communal forces. The Principal Sessions Judge of Kathua, Vinod Chatterji Koul rejected his bail application, saying that there were grounds to believe that he had committed the offence.
Shah Nawaz had allegedly intervened during a discussion among students and commented on gunfights between mujahideen and Indian armed forces.—Agencies
