Murad assures PM of full support in CPEC completion


Prime Minister discusses political situation with Achakzai, Bizenjo, Sherpao; announces Rs50,000 for each family of Pakistanis stranded in Saudi Arabia

Islamabad—Syed Murad Ali Shah, new Chief Minister Sindh called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at PM House on Friday and discussed overall state of affairs in the province and the law and order situation in Karachi. The Prime Minister congratulated Syed Murad Ali Shah on being elected as the Chief Minister Sindh.
The newly elected Chief Minister Sindh inquired about the health of the Prime Minister and discussed various matters and issues related to Sindh with the Prime Minister, during the meeting. ‘We have always received the support of the Prime Minister and we are hopeful to be receiving the continued support of the prime minister and federal government in future, as well’, said the Chief Minister.
Syed Murad Ali Shah appreciated and acknowledged the full-fledged support of the Prime Minister on Thar coal project. ‘It was because of your personal interest that the project was launched and we look forward for continued support in this regard’, added the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister assured the Prime Minister of the complete support of the provincial government in regard to the implementation of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
The Chief Minister suggested for inclusion of a couple of projects under in the umbrella of CPEC. The Prime Minister, in response, said that the Federal Government is with provincial government and assured him that the inclusion of the projects in CPEC would be considered positively. Syed Murad Ali Shah raised some issues pertaining to the Ministry of Water & Power during the meeting.
The Prime Minister directed the Minister and Secretary Water & Power to meet the Chief Minister and mutually resolve the issues. The Prime Minister said that he is available to all Chief Ministers and the provincial governments to fast track the development projects in all provinces.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the elected Chief Minister will strive for the development and uplift of Sindh province according to the mandate and aspirations of the people of the province. ‘The Federal Government will continue to extend all-out support to the provincial government in its endeavours to better serve the people of Sindh’, said the Prime Minister.
Later addressing a press conference Syed Murad Ali Shah said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif assured him of cooperation for betterment of Sindh during the first ever one-on-one meeting between the two. Shah said that Rangers issue regarding department’s policing powers was solved in the meeting. While answering a question, Shah said that late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had said that politics is the paradise of the people. Corruption should be eradicated at all cost, he said adding that he recommended the Prime Minister to add two more projects in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He quoted premier’s reply that the recommendation would be considered in a positive fashion. Shah said that there would be no compromise over Sindh’s rights and he would attempt to establish good terms with the federation.
He announced that cabinet would be increased soon in the near future. While talking about Sindh’s issues and government’s determination he said that the province has abundant re-sources while challenges aren’t any lesser. But, he said that the government has enough time to right the wrong in the province. Action would be taken against criminals irrespective of their affiliation with any political party, he said.
Meanwhile, it is reported that after holding meeting with members of PML-N Parliamentary Party, the Prime Min-ister met leaders of the parties supporting his government to discuss the political situation in the country in the context of opposition’s threat of protests after failure of the treachery and opposition benches in the Parliament to reach an agreement on TORs for investigation in Panama Leaks. Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, BNP President Mir Hasil Bizenjo and Chief of Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao met Mr Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at PM House today (Friday. Sources said that overall national affairs and political matters were discussed during the meeting. Law and order situation and developmental schemes pertaining to Balochistan also came under discussion in the meeting.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved compensation money of Rs. 50, 000/ for each family of the stranded Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister has approved a total amount of Rs. 500 Million to be distributed amongst the families of ten thousand stranded Pakistanis.
The Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development to prepare authenticated lists of the concerned families at the earliest possible. The Prime Minister further directed that disbursement of cheques amounting to Rs. 50,000 for each family must be ensured as early as possible.—Agencies
