Muqam alleges massive rigging in NA-4 by-polls

Advisor to Prime Minister and President PML-N KP, Engr Amir Muqam has alleged massive rigging in NA-4 by-polls resulting in victory of PTI candidate, Arbab Amir. Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Friday, Amir Muqam said he has solid proofs of rigging in polling.
He alleged that Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa, P ervez Khattak has manipulated the electioneering by employing people’s of his choice on election duty. The PTI government in KP, Amir Muqam added also committed pre-poll rigging by announcing developmental packages in the constituency after announcement of election schedule by Election Commission of Pakistan.
Announcement about solarization of 400 mosques in NA-4 constituency is pre-poll rigging, Muqam argued while substantiating in allegations. While clarifying his position about announcement of developmental schemes in NA-4, he said, he has not launched even a single project in the area after the death of late MNA, Gulzar Khan.
“If someone proved that I on behalf of federal government has launched a single project or released a single Re. for developmental work in NA-4, I will resign from politics,” Muqam claimed.
He also alleged involvement of staff of Election Commission in rigging during polling for by-elections. Amir Muqam said without the consent of election commission staff, rigging cannot be committed.
He said he has proofs that duty of some polling staffer were changed during wee hours between night of October 25 and 26 for appointed of selective staff. There are proofs that some of the polling agents when reached for performing duty, they were informed that there duty has been changed to other polling station.
Similarly, he continued, in some polling stations where our observers belief that only five to six hundred votes have been polled, the result was in thousands.
Amir Muqam said the turnout was low, but election results show good turnout which smacks of rigging and manipulation during and after polling.—APP
