Munni Begum spellbounds jam-packed hall at RAC

Rawalpindi—World renowned ghazal singer Munni Begum spellbound the jam-packed hall with audience which brought a lot of forgotten memories for the music genre at Rawalpindi Arts Council on Thursday night with some fine singing. Commissioner Rawalpindi division Azmat Mehmood was chief guest along with MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, MNA Raja Hanif Advocate, MPA Tehssen Fawad, DCO Chakwal Mehmood Javed Bhatti, Additional Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Tariq, Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director Waqar Ahmed.
Munni Begum’s admirers came in such large numbers that seats fell short despite extra arrangement of seats despites of heavy rain and blockage of Cricket Stadium Road for carpeting in front of Rawalpindi Arts Council.
Before the performance, Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed welcomed the audience and threw light on the history of ghazal. He thanked Munni Begum that she had come all the way long from the USA to perform at this Council.
The stage was adorned with classical touch. Munni clad in a red sari with his signature smile when appeared on the stage the audience in the hall gave her a standing ovation. She sang many of her famous ghazals while playing on the harmonium such as IK Bar Muskara Do, Lazat-i-Gham, Mareez-i-Mahabbat and Thumaray Sheher Ka Mausam Bara Suhana Lagay and much more. She sang more than two hours and received thunder appreciation. Before the performance of Munni Begum, RAC music classes students Laraib Tahir, Master Majid, Aqdas Hashmi, Sania Khan and Arshad Khan also performed.
