Imran to take PM oath at President House
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan said on Wednesday that Rabita Committee has decided to support Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf in the formation of government at federal level on 12 conditions.
It was decided after a meeting between the party leaders and PTI leader Jehangir Tareen held at MQM-Pakistan headquarters here.
Speaking to journalists, MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the Rabita Committee will support the PTI for making government in the Centre and sit on opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly.
Khalid Maqbool said that PTI chief Imran Khan could not bring any change if he will compromise on principles. He also mentioned that mandate given by people to political parties should be honoured and hoped that PTI leader will address the reservations of political parties.
On the occasion, MQM-P senior leader Farooq Sattar said that all the matters will be resolved with consultation and mutual understanding.
Earlier, the Pakistan People’s Party asked the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to decide whether it wanted to join the federal government or become part of the Sindh cabinet.
The PPP leadership had conveyed to the MQM leadership that the latter would not be welcomed to the Sindh cabinet if it decides to join the PTI government in the centre.
MQM has won 16 Sindh Assembly seats in the elections held on July 25 and six National National Assembly seats.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairperson Imran Khan, who is expected to become the next prime minister of Pakistan, will take the oath at the President House, the party confirmed on Wednesday.
The decision was announced after a party meeting at Imran’s residence in Bani Gala.
The sources in the President House had earlier informed that the 20th prime minister of Pakistan will take oath at the President House.
Imran, on the other hand, had expressed his wish to take oath at either Islamabad’s D-Chowk or Parade Ground. The source had shared that the prime minister will take the oath in President House and the oath will be administered by President Mamnoon Hussain.
The oathtaking ceremony cannot be shifted to another location as per the wishes of anyone, the source said, adding that the ceremony will not be held anywhere else.
While speaking about the future tenure of PTI, party leader Naeem-ul-Haque remarked that the country’s golden era will start once PTI comes into power.
“We will soon announce the good tidings of ten million jobs,” he said while speaking to media in Islamabad.
