MPO to become independent organization soon: Mayor Islamabad

Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Anser Aziz said the Machine Pool Organization (MPO) of Municipal Corportaion Islamabad (MCI) was gradually attaining sustainability and it would soon become an independent and self sustainable organization.
The MPO would not only contribute to the maintenance of existing roads but also help develop a modern road infrastructure, he said speaking during the second follow-up meeting for preparation of case regarding Japan’s Grant Aid “ Economic and Social Development Programme” with the representatives of Marubeni Corporation.
Sheikh Anser, who is also CDA Chairman, said the Cooperation of Economic and Social Development Programme for providing road stabilizer construction equipment to the MPO was a commendable step which would open new era of development and make make Islamabad a model city in true sense. The meeting was attended by Member Planning and Design Asad Mehmoob Kayani, Mr.NAOKI IZUMI Regional COO for Southwest Asia.
During the meeting it was informed that under Economic and Social Development Programme of Japan’s Grant Aid, provision of two road stabilizers were being requested in addition to the two units of Emulsion Asphalt Lorry, two units vibratory Single Drum Roller, four units Pneumatic Tired Roller, four units Vibratory Tandem Roller, four units Walk Behind Roller and Wheel Type Asphalt Paver.
It was told that the case regarding Japan’s Grant Aid “Economic and Social Development Programme has been prepared and after formal approval of Mayor of Islamabad the case will be submitted to Ministry of Interior for onward submission of this EOD.
Mayor said that the provision of state of art machinery especially road carpeting and earth work will equip MPO to serve as a continuous source for serving people of Islamabad especially in the areas where infrastructure development is still not up to mark and as per standards of developed sectors of Islamabad.—APP
