Motorcycle sale up 18.11pc during July-Feb (2015-16)

Islamabad—The sale of motor bikes in the country during first eight months (July-February) of fiscal year 2015 witnessed an increase of 18.11 percent to 878,723 units as compared to same period of last year when 719,516 motorcycles were sold in the country. According to latest data released by Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA), during the period under review Honda motorcycles took the lead as 532,183 units were sold as compared to sale of 408,204 units during same period of previous year.
Suzuki motorcycles, however witnessed 25.62 percent decrease to 11,670 units in July-February (2015-16) from 14,661 units in same period of last year. Similarly the sale of DYL motor bikes also increased to 5,091 units in the period under review as compared to the sale of 3,859 motorbikes last year thus showing an increase of 24.19 percent. As many as 1,985 Sohrab motorcycles were sold during the corresponding period as compared to that of 3,446 units in the previous year showing a sharp decrease of 73.6 percent. The sale of Qingqi motorbikes also witnessed a sharp decrease as only 193 motorbikes were sold in first eight months of current fiscal year whereas in the same period of previous fiscal year 1,415 units were sold. Similarly Qingqi three whealers’ sale witnessed a slight decrease as 18,629 units were sold this year as compared to that of 18,835 units last year.—APP
