Money needed to initiate new projects, but treasury empty: minister

Punjab Minister Population Welfare Col (Retd) Hashim Dogar has said the government will take every possible step for betterment and welfare of people.
He said that money is needed to initiate new projects, but how it could be done when there is no money in national treasury.
He said this while addressing a seminar as chief guest, organised in connection with World Population Day 2018 by Population Welfare Department, here on Thursday.
The minister said the PTI government did not want to go to IMF, but it had to take this step due to shoprtage of funds.
He promised that every single penny of the loan would be spent on the welfare of people. He said that increase in population was the biggest problem currently.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan has promised constructing 5 million houses and creating 10 million jobs. But even all these arrangements will also not be enough for the increasing population,” Hashim Dogar added.
He said that a concept of village council was being introduced at district and tehsil level for counselling of families.
The minister stressed that cooperation of religious scholars would be needed to fulfil the promises.
He urged that change in thinking was a must to bring about a change in society.
Secretary Population Welfare Department Bushra Amman, Director General Population Welfare Naeem ud Din Rathore, Director General PILAC Dr Sughra Shafi and other guests also attended the seminar.—APP
