Peshawar—Work on detailed engineering design of Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project is continuing, which will be completed in January 2017. This was stated by the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood during his visit to the project site located in Mohmand Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Speaking on the occasion, WAPDA Chairman said that Mohmand Dam, being a multipurpose project, is of immense importance for socioeconomic uplift of the country, as it will not only generate lowcost hydel electricity but also provide water for agriculture besides mitigating flood in Charsadda, Peshawar and Nowshera.
He directed the project authorities that detailed engineering design of the project be completed as early as possible so that construction work could be started on the project.
During his visit to the dam site, the Chairman witnessed the activities of topographic survey and geological investigations required for detailed engineering design of Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project.
