Model agri markets 2nd phase begins

Agriculture Marketing wing has decided to start second phase establishment of Model Markets in Punjab. During a monthly progress review meeting of Agriculture Marketing held under the chairman-ship of Special Secretary Agriculture (Marketing) Ehsan Bhutta last month, it was decided to transform 25 markets into Model markets. So, during first phase of this project Fruit & Vegetable Markets Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, D.G Khan, R.Y Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Burewala, Kehror Pakka, Dina, Talagang, Depalpur, Pakpattan, Bhakkar,Samundri, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Kaacha (Lahore), Sheikupora, Nankana Sahib and Grain Markets of khanewal, Chichawatni, Sargodha, Piplan has been converted into model market. These model markets attribute cleanliness along with anti-dengue, fruit fly management measures and maximum tree plantation. These model markets are free from any encroachment. These markets are under observation with no malpractice there. Schedule of market fee, commission and daily rates is be displaying at prominent places in model markets. Auction is supervised to ensure transparency and daily rates are also prepared in accordance with the auction prices. Now during its second phase Fruit & Vegetables and grain markets of Bhakkar, Khan Pur, Fort Abbas, Ahmad Pur Sharqia, Multan, Okara, Gujjarkhan and Arifwala is being transformed into model markets.—PR
