Ministerial committee reviews Urdu implementation progress

Islamabad—The meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Federal Cabinet on Implementation of Urdu on Tuesday reviewed the progress on the Prime Ministers’s directive on enforcement of Urdu in the offices. The meeting held here under the chairmanship of Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid decided to ask all ministries,divisions and de-partments to submit reports regarding implementation of Urdu.
It was also proposed that concerned secretaries should be asked to attend the next meeting and apprise it on the status of implementation of the directives of Supreme Court and Prime Minister of Pakistan in this regard. The meeting stressed that for making implementation of Urdu easy, easy-to-understand terms, designations and words should be allowed to use so that the institutions can become familiar with Urdu words and terminology.
The meeting expressed satisfaction over the progress being made in the implementation of Urdu in vari-ous ministries, divisions and depart-ments. It was also decided that the tool of media would be used to publicize the implementation of Urdu in government departments.
The meeting was attended by Adviser to PM on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Housing Akram Khan Durrani, Secretary National History and Literary Division Mohsin S Haqqani and Secretary In-formation, Broadcasting and National heritage Imran Gardezi and other senior officials.—APP
