Sindh Health Minister, Dr. Sikandar Mendhro here on Wednesday reviewed the performance of the Health Information, Monitoring and Supervisory Cell, constituted to keep round the clock vigil on public sector hospitals and laboratories. Chairing a meeting, the minister expressed his satisfaction that since activation of the cell an opportunity has been provided to doctors, nurses, para-medics, technicians and other associated staffers to improve their performance.
The cell also actively involved in monitoring of the different disease prevention, control and management programs currently underway in the province was registered to have also streamlined their working.
Since its inception early this year all concerned medical superintendents, district health officers and managers of varied disease control and prevention programs were registered to be despatching their monthly schedules coupled with performance reports on daily basis.
Minister Dr. Mendhro expressed his satisfaction that the strategy has helped to improve the quality of service offered to the patients.
“This is because immediate notice is taken, at the highest level, of any reported discrepancy or complaint made by the patients,” commented the health minister.
He on the occasion also sought details of the response on letters issued only recently to certain head of departments and program managers about their failure to keep the cell updated about performance of their sub-ordinates.
Dr. Sikandar Mendhro appreciated that district managers of lady health workers’ program and those of TB Control, Mother and Child Care, Expanded Program on Immunization have been very meticulously sharing details of their performance. This, he said has helped addressing their needs and also those of the target population covered by each of them respectively.
