Mines Workers Labour Welfare Commissionerate being set up

Lahore—Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan has said that Punjab government has decided to set up a separate an independent Mines Workers Labour Welfare Commissionerate for which a summary will be moved soon to Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for approval. He said this while presiding over a meeting here on Monday in this regard. Deputy Mines Labour Welfare Commissioner, Jan Muhammad along with other concerned officers of the department attended the meeting.
The Minister Mines said that the department has decided to set up Mines Labour Welfare Hospital in Rawalpindi in light of Social Security Hospitals of the Labour Department where state-of-the-art medical facilities would be provided to Mines Workers and their family members round-the-clock and the patients would not have to go to teaching hospitals of the big cities. He apprised the meeting that Mines Workers of Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Sargodha, Chakwal and surrounding Mining areas will be facilitated from this facility where specialist doctors will be available and major operations and medical tests will be held free of cost. Ch. Sher Ali Khan further said that according to a mega project, Mines Workers Labour Colony comprising of state-of-the-art flats, will be constructed on hundred kanal areas in Chakwal and Khushab so that trend of migration of Mines Workers could be discouraged by providing free of cost residents to them. Dispensaries, schools, mosques, shopping centers along with basic facilities of electricity, water and gas would also be provided in these Mines Workers Labour Colonies, he concluded.
