National Media Workshop awards
Rawalpindi—Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana awarded certificates to the successful participants of 8th National Media Workshop in Institute of Strategic Studies Research and Analysis, National Defence University NDU, Islamabad on Friday.
Addressing to the participants as chief guest, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana said that today media has become very complex and multi-faceted source of communication and it had earned a global reputation of being an epitome of freedom. He said media is considered as fourth pillar of society as well as estate and it has played pivotal role in creating awareness among the masses about all spheres of life.
He said besides the national and global importance of media there are huge responsibilities of media persons to uphold the national interest and solidarity of country. He lauded the efforts of NDU for rendering the service as “Think Tank” for the National Security and providing a platform to different segments of society to share their knowledge and experiences with each other and formulate recommendations which can be incorporated in national plans and policies.
Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana referring to the accountability said that all countrymen are stakeholders of Pakistan and it is responsibility of every citizen to play his role for the solidarity of Pakistan. He paid tributes to the great sacrifices of Armed Forces in Zarb e Azb and said that Prime Minister of Pakistan, parliamentarians and all political parties made a consensus to launch operation against terrorism and Armed Forces were doing a commendable job to completely eliminate terrorism. He said Constitution has clearly defined fundamental rights and we all must have to make ourselves self-accountable in our perspectives.
Governor Punjab appreciated the keen interest of participants in the National Media Workshop and asked them to get benefit of the outcomes of workshops in their respective professional responsibilities. He also admired the curricular of NDU which has been made very objective and informative for the participants.
Earlier, Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmed Butt, HI (M) President National Defence University, in welcome address highlighted salient features of the workshop. He said that the workshop content helps foster a clear perception of the national security challenges that confront Pakistan as a state today and paves the way for developing harmony and consensus on key challenges among participants from all over Pakistan. Parliamentarians, Media Professional from Print and electronic, corporate, civil society sector participated in the two week National Medic Workshops.
