MCI taking steps to adopt modern cleanliness system in capital: Mayor

Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) was taking practical steps to adopt modern cleanliness system in the federal capital. Under this system, the cleanliness services are being provided both in the urban and rural areas of the city.
According to the senior official of Sanitation Department, Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz has said that Sanitation Directorate is the one of important formation of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) but this formation was neglected in the past due to which standard of cleanliness in the city adversely affected.
The mayor said that in order to utilise latest technology in cleanliness system, tender from both national and multinational companies were sought and it was expected that by adopting modern system cleanliness would be improved. He said that by utilising latest machinery and equipments better results could be achieved.
He further added that MCI was comprised upon the elected representatives from all over the city who were well-aware about the problems of their respective union councils (UCs).
Therefore, the importance was being given to the suggestions for provision of civic amenities and sanitation services.—APP
