Mayor Waseem Akhtar submitted a report before the Sindh High Court Commission hearing case bout water supply,sanitation etc, saying that Karachi had been ill-treated and was denied its due right for development etc
The commission which also tour the interior of the province from next week, was also told by the Water Board that of the 120 acres of land allotted to the Board for treatment plant in Mahmoodabad locality of Karachi, 40 acres had been encroached.
Waseem claimed in discussions with media later that departments like Water Board and Solid waste Management Board were under the Mayor.
The commission also received reports from former minister, Irfanullah Marwat, now with PML(N) that former Mayor Mustsfa Kamal (then with MQM), haad got recruited his own people in the treatment plant in Mahmoodabad, and still was called number two Mayor of the world.
The opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, Khawaja Izharul Hasan of MQM Pakistan, also presented his viewpoints before the commission.
He said that although Karachi had substantial rainfall this season, and yet people were without drinking water. The PPP stronghold of Lyari too was looking helpless for such an essential item.
