Mayor inspects progress of re-carpeting work in capital

Islamabad—Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz paid a surprise visit to Constitution Avenue to inspect the progress of ongoing re-carpeting work. Sheikh Anser Aziz directed the concerned officers to strictly ensure quality of work and complete carpeting of 10 kilometer (both sides) a long Constitution Avenue with in given time frame, said a news release on Saturday. He said that funds saved from the project would be utilized for road carpeting in other areas of the city.
He said that Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) will revive Machinery Pool Organization (MPO) Directorate to carryout road carpeting work in the city in order to avoid extra expenditures.
Ansar said comprehensive plan has been devised to fully mobilize MPO Directorate, under which not only heavy machinery of this formation would be upgraded but would be also augmented by inducting professional engineers and skilled supporting staff.
The present government, he said, has set a tradition of saving extra expenses in mega development projects and Metropolitan Corporation has also taking such measures which producing positive results.
While briefing the Mayor about progress on carpeting work, Director MPO informed that the carpeting work of Constitution Avenue started on October 6, 2016, is being carried out at fast pace and will be completed by November 15, 2016. He was further apprised that under this project total 1,500,000 square feet of the avenue is to be re-carpeted and due to effective monitoring and cumbersome efforts carpeting of 200,000 square feet has been completed in just two (02) days.
