Attock—A patient suffering from Congo fever died in hospital. Reports reached to this scribe revealed that 23 year old Zulfiqar resident of village Bhangai tehsil Hazro had been suffering from Congo fever for last one week. He was first shifted to THQs Hospital Hazro and then to Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi for treatment but he could not survive. District administration advised his relatives to shift his dead body directly to graveyard to avoid spread of deadly Congo virus.
Meanwhile, District Co-ordination Officer, Attock, Rana Akbar Hayat has said that district administration is taking all preventive measures against Congo fever. All relevant officers and officials have been deputed with special directions to take precautionary measures.
He stated this while chairing a meeting regarding Congo fever. Mr. hayat said that mass awareness campaign have been launched to educate livestock farmers and other potential affectees to take precautionary measures while handling animals, carcasses and animal waste.
He further said all possible means of communication including print and electronic media are being utilized for massive awareness. More-over, posters and banners have also been affixed on prominent places. DCO said that special measures like limestone marking, spray, treatment of affected animals have been initiated at cattle markets, slaughter house, dairy/gawala colonies, sacrificial animal sale yards and at other animal gathering places.
Moreover, tick repellent spray has also been used in and around the designated sale points, sale yards and in cattle markets. District Co-ordination Officer, Rana Akbar Hayat further said that services and resources of District Livestock Department, veterinary staff and of other allied departments are being utilized for avoiding spread of the said disease.
