Malik vows fight against proposed Sainik, Pandit colonies

Srinagar—Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik on Friday vowed to fight tooth and nail against the establishment of proposed Sainik and Pandit colonies in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Malik said that Kashmiri Pandist have a right to live in the valley just like other Kashmiris but not “behind walls of hatred”.
“They (Pandits) are like our brothers and sisters. But we won’t allow the government to settle them behinds the walls of hatred on Israeli-pattern,” he said.
Malik also opposed the establishment of proposed Sainik colony in the state. “The colony, whether it is being established for sainiks of Jammu and Kashmir or those from India, we wouldn’t let it happen,” said Malik. He said the government is also planning top provide land for businessmen outside the state.—GK
