As the Operation Raddul Fasaad was progressing four men in uniform including a major of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom in clashes with the insurgents in volatile Orakzai and South Waziristan agencies Wednesday morning. The retaliatory fire by the security forces, however, left around half a dozen alleged terrorists including a key commander of the Taliban.
The security forces were conducting Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in Kalaya Tehsil of Orakzai agency as a part of Operation Raddul Fasaad when they came face to face with terrorists and there was exchange of fire between the two sides. At least five insurgents including a high value target and a key operative of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) named as Duran were killed in the clash.
“During Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad the Frontier Corps KPK conducted an Intelligence Based Operation in village Mirak, Kalaya, Aurakzai Agency early Wednesday morning. Five terrorists including high value target terrorist Duran of TTP killed in the shootout. In exchange of fire Major Mudassar and Sepoy Mateehullah also embraced Shahadat”. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) communiqué said.
The ongoing operation Radd ul Fasaad was initiated against the elements challenging the writ of the state and unleashing a series of subversive activities all over the country last month.
In yet another incident two security personnel embraced martyrdom while two others sustained injuries in a landmine explosion near Angoor Adda along Pak-Afghan border in South Waziristan Agency.
The political administration of the South Waziristan agency in a statement on Wednesday said that a landmine blast hit the vehicle of security forces in Zayoba area of the agency near Angoor Adda closed to Pak-Afghan border.
“Two Jawaans of the security forces were martyred on the spot while two others sustained wounds”. The Political administration said adding following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and kicked off search and net operation in the region.
The Namaz-e-Janaza of Shaheed Major Mudasar Sagheer and Shaheed Sep Matiullah were offered at Corps Head Quarters Peshawar. Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt and other Civil and military officials attended funeral. “ Moral remains of the martyred soldiers were taken to their native areas where they will be buried with full military honour”.
