District Nazim Peshawar, Muhammad Asim Khan Monday said concentrated efforts made by the district government helped restore the lost glory of historical Namak Mandi Bazaar. As food street has been established and now renovation and rehabilitation of old building of district administration and construction of Sky Line parking plaza will make this food souk the heart of Peshawar city in real sense, the Nazim said. He was talking to media after inspecting ongoing work on renovation of district government building in Namak Mandi. DG Coordination Mian Shafiqur Rehman, District Member Taqdeer Ali, Town Member Shah Zeb, Director Property Kamran Amjad and city district engineer Numan Ahmed were also present at the occasion. The District Nazim at the occasion directed removal of bill board and banners marring the beauty of the district government new building and sought a report in this regard. He directed the engineer to persuade the shopkeeper and hotel owners to construct identical design sheds in front of their shops and hotels and remove encroachments at the earliest. The Nazim listened to the problems of the shopkeepers and issue on-the-spot directives over some of the complaints for addressal. The Nazim also directed for deployment of extra traffic police staff at Namak Mandi to cope with traffic mess during construction and renovation of the food bazaar.
