National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) here on Friday evening celebrated ‘Dewalii’, the Hindu festival with great fanfare.
A large number of people including members of the Hindu community participated in the festivities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hindu community’s religious leaders thanked Lok Virsa for arranging the festival and bringing members of different communities together. “We want to celebrate each and every festival together as all the festivals belong to this soil,” they said.
Lok Virsa Executive Director Fouzia Saeed welcomed the participants and said Lok Virsa would annually organize such festivals to promote peace and harmony in the country.
Dressed in traditional costumes, the participants enjoyed to their full. Speakers thanked Lok Virsa and government for organizing special event to celebrate Dewali festival.
