Lahore—Treatment of hundreds of patients admitted at Mayo Hospital on Sunday was badly affected due to massive power breakdown on account of construction work of the Orange Line Metro Train project which created difficulties for citizens as well as patients of the hospital.
According to details, the electricity load shedding was observed from 10am to 12pm on Sunday, which badly affected the treatment services to the patients.
Citizens in Lahore were deprived of electricity for several hours in many areas of the city. The breakdown created shortage of water for citizens in scorching heat..
Spokesman of YDA Mayo Hospital Dr Zaffar ullah said there was electricity loadshedding from 10 am to 12pm not only Mayo Hospital but also in the hostels of male and lady Doctors.
He lamented that government should close hospitals on Sunday instead of keeping patients in so much warm and congested environment where there is no electricity.
He said, no ACs were working in emergency department, where electricity was supplied by generators. While in other wards No fans, ACs along with lights were not working due to loadshedding.
Due to non-availably of electricity, the patients have to face a lot of difficulties as doctors were unable to extend treatment on electricity-driven equipment.
He said that the doctors were forced to keep patients on AMBU bags, which makes it difficult to normalise the breathing and may endanger the lives of the patients.
Situation of surgical wards of hospital where operated patients were suffering a lot because of loadshedding.
