Light rain, snowfall likely over hills at isolated places

Islamabad—Light rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places of Malakand division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan whereas cold and dry weather to persist elsewhere in the country during the next 24 hours.
Partly cloudy weather conditions are forecast in upper parts of the country. Westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist till the weekend, an official of met office told APP.
In last 24 hours weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country. However, light rain occurred in Kalam which is recorded as 1mm.
Persistent dry cold weather was causing various diseases among citizens especially the children of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Thursday also forecast dry weather for most parts of the country. Experts have advised necessary precautionary measures for people having weak immunity.
Medical expert Dr.Arif Majeed said,”Dry cold has increased skin problems, allergy common cold, pain in joints, respiratory tract infection, cough and flu, he said. He advised extra care for asthma patients, elderly people and children to save them from complications.
Minimum temperatures recorded on Thursday remained Kalat – 04øC, Quetta -03øC, Gupis -01øC, Hunza 00øC, Skardu 03øC, Murree, Gilgit, Chitral, Dir 05øC, Muzaffarabad 07øC, Islamabad 08øC, Peshawar 09øC, Lahore, Faisalabad 11øC, Multan 13øC and Karachi, Hyderabad 15øC.—APP
