Lahore—A Lahore High Court division bench on Monday summoned a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer for April 21, on a bail application filed by Riaz Qadeer Butt, director and chief executive of Haq Bahu Sugar Mills, Jhang, in Rs 1,520 million alleged fraud case.
The division bench, headed by Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa, heard the application.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that NAB had arrested the accused in Rs 1,520 million fraud case. He submitted that allegations levelled against him were baseless.
He pleaded the court to grant bail to the accused.
The court, summoning the investigation officer along with record, adjourned the hearing till April 21.
In February 2016, NAB arrested the accused on charges of fraud after he failed to supply the sugar stock to the Utility Corporation as per an agreement with the Trade Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), despite receiving the payment for the commodity.
