LHC extends stay on announcement of MDCAT result till Sept 28

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday extended stay on announcement of Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2017, till September 28.
Justice Shahid Waheed passed the orders on petitions filed by Ayesha Bin Tariq and other candidates challenging the MDCAT 2017.
As the proceedings started, a law officer on behalf of the Punjab government sought time for submission of findings of committee formed by the government to probe the matter, saying that these were not available at present.
At this, the court adjourned the further hearing till September 28 and sought a copy of the committee findings. The court also summoned University of Health Sciences (UHS) controller examination in person on next hearing.
The petitioners had submitted that more than 65,000 students appeared in MDCAT being held on August 20. They alleged that the paper was leaked ahead of time and if the result was announced on basis of the test then it would be an injustice to deserving students. They pleaded the court to set aside the test.
It is pertinent to mention that UHS through a reply had told the court that MDCAT 2017 paper was not leaked and no evidence was found in this regard.—APP
