LHC concerned over non-setting up of shelter homes for women


Larkana—The High Court of Sindh circuit Court Larkana showed resentment over non- implementation of Court orders to set up shelter houses for victim women of Karo Kari (honor allegations) and other women subjected to tortures in districts and tehsil-level in 5 district of Larkana divisions Shikarpur, Jacababad, Kandkh Kot Kashmore, Kamber Shahdadkot and Larkana. The Court has summoned Chief Secretary Sindh and Deputy Commissioners of 5 districts to appear on August 15 2016. Police officers will be responsible if any illegal Jirga regarding the honor killing held at their respective areas and those officers be treated as accused with others in cases, Court bound the DIG Larkana in remarks during the hearing.
According to reports: the Court of Justice Salahuddin Panhwar heard the case of 8 separate petitions regarding protection for victim women in allegations of Kari, Nagina Dhakan, Irfana, Sajida Jagirani, Rubina Malak and others through their lawyers including Habibullah Gori, Abdul Rehman Bhutto, Muhammad Afzal Jagirani and others had filed separate petitions for protection of their lives.
DIG Larkana Abdullah Shaikh, SSP Larkana Kamran Nawaz Panjutha, SSP Jacobabad Sajid Khokhar and other Police officers appeared before the Court, on the occasion DIG Larkana apprised the Court that 22 rescue centers have been formed in Larkana division.
