LHC admits plea for PM’s disqualification

Lahore—The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday admitted for hearing a petition seeking to declare Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif ‘ineligible’ for holding public office after claims of Panama Papers.
The petition was filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s senior lawyer Gohar Nawaz Sindhu, who is an advocate in the LHC. Sindhu has made PM Nawaz Sharif, the federal government, ECP, NAB, FIA, Rehman Malik, Maryam Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz as respondents in the petition.
He stated in the petition that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif be declared as ‘disqualified’ for not disclosing details of his full assets in the nomination papers submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan. The court admitted the petition for hearing after removing the objection of the registrar office. The court has directed registrar office to fix the petition for hearing.—-SABAH
