LESCO rules out unscheduled power load-shedding

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) on Tuesday rejected reports regarding unscheduled power load-shedding in its domain, adding that the Company’s power supply system was stable and working up to the mark.
LESCO Chief Executive Officer Mujahid Pervez Chattha said here that Company was ensuring supply in accordance with electricity demand due to which consumers of all areas including Lahore of LESCO region was being provided power facility as per routine schedule.
He mentioned that as per policy, there was scheduled load-shedding only in areas of loss-making feeders, explaining that unscheduled was nowhere in entire LESCO region.
However, he clarified, “Today in the afternoon, LESCO has to make four additional load-management plans of short durations as the Company’s 17 grid stations were affected after a technical fault developed at 220kV grid station on Bund Road in the domain of National Transmission and Dispatch Compnay (NTDC).”
The NTDC’s 220kV grid was feeding LESCO’s 132kV grid each at areas of Saidpur, Sabzazar, Allama Iqbal Town, Model Town, Rewaz Garden, Township, Qurtuba, Shadman, Lahore Cantt, Gulshan Ravi, Bund Road, Saggiyan, Narang, Kala Shah Kaku, Muridke, Shahdara Scarp and Shamke, he mentioned and asserted that additional load-management was done on the aforesaid grids.
He said that high-ups of NTDC and Lahore Electric Supply Company supervised the repair operation and the field staff removed the technical fault at 220kV grid station, Bund Road, within shortest possible time and restored electricity supply from NTDC grid to all affected grid stations of LESCO.
Meanwhile, LESCO spokesman appealed to the consumers to contact their respective sub-division offices or send an SMS on 8118 or call at Helpline 118 for rectification of individual complaints regarding electricity failure.—APP
