‘LEAs have anti-MQM agenda’

Karachi—The concealed agenda of law- enforcement agencies in the garb of maintaining peace in Karachi is actually to pin the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to the wall, henceforth, unannounced ban on all political activities of the MQM. The MQM Coordination Committee Senior Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat of the MQM, Tuesday.
He said the MQM workers have been booked in fake criminal cases and have been threatened of dire consequences for the crimes they never committed. Instead, they are told they would get free and general amnesty, no matter if they are involved in actual criminal cases or not.
He further said it is clear that general amnesty is always offered to those involved in anti-state activities and acts of treason while the MQM workers have been, though fake, booked in criminal cases, not cases of treason.
He said that the MQM is being agonised and tormented for successful restructuring the MQM. Unfortunately, the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) that have been pretending to maintain peace in the city are leaving no stone unturned in pinning it to the wall.
A state of high premonitions and fright is being created in the city and the MQM workers are grossly intimidated of stern actions in reaction to their party’s political work. He said the LEAs have since March 6 accelerated the pace of arbitrary arrests of the MQM workers and office-bearers of different wings and a minimum of 100 activists have been arrested.
