Latest FIFA game omits J&K from Indian map

Srinagar

Fifa 18, the latest edition of the popular sports simulation video game series developed and published by Electronic Arts, shows India without Jammu and Kashmir as its part, media reports said.
One of the new features in Fifa 18 is the Squad Battles mode, which is an online game mode where gamers can build the best available team. In Squad Battles mode, different AI Ultimate Teams are available for players to play against and it is here that the Indian map without Jammu and Kashmir was first noticed, an article published in Sportskeeda said.
The image shows the Indian map with the tricolour, but does not include Jammu and Kashmir in it.
A screenshot of said image was shared on Imgur. Fifa 18 is set to hit the stores on 29th September, featuring Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover.
Not the first time Indian map has been shown without Jammu and Kashmir as its part, in 2015, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had also shared a video of his internet.org venture, which showed the Indian map without Jammu and Kashmir.
Doha based English news channel Al-Jazeera was criticized by the Indian government for depicting the Indian map as Jammu and Kashmir divided between Pakistan and India.
When legal experts contacted for comments on the development, they said that factually Jammu and Kashmir was a disputed territory under the UN resolutions.
They added that all big powers including the United States and China also considered Jammu and Kashmir an international dispute.—KMS
