Abbottabad—Four hundred twenty nine laptops were distributed among the MS and PhD students of Comsats Institute of Information& Technology under the Prime Minister’s Laptops Scheme here Monday.
Prof. Dr Arshad Ali who is Executive Director of Higher Education Commission was the chief guest. Yasir Ali Abbasi, who is a handicapped student of MS programme, was on of the Laptops recipient of laptop.
Makhdoom Adeel ur Rehman, Chief Coordinator (Monitoring) of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in his speech said govt has increased the budget of education to 80 billion rupees. He asked the participants to put forward suggestions and feedback from the students to make the systems more youth friendly.
He told that the Govt. is playing its part in a small way by giving away 100, 000 laptops every year on purely merit basis to the students of Pakistan. It is now up to the students to use these laptops for gaining further knowledge and to avail and share the opportunities with their fellows who do not have them.
Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali in his address appreciated the hard work and efforts of the management, faculty and staff of the campus to enable the students to study in such a beautiful and serene setting of the landscape. He congratulated the CIIT students on the award of the laptops, and asked them to work hard and be a role model for the society.
