Lahore Qalandars fall short in valiant chase against Sydney Thunder

Sydney—Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars’ Jazz Rising Stars team lost to Sydney Thunder Academy by 16 runs after putting up a valiant run chase at Sydney’s Pratten Park on Tuesday.
The win saw Sydney Thunder Academy secure their place in the Tri-Series Final on Thursday and end Lahore Qalandars’ unbeaten run so far on this tour.
Thunder Academy, batting first, posted a total of 7/174 off 20 overs. Openers Andrew Harriott and Kerrod White shared a 61-run opening stand. Arjun Nair at number three scored 52 off 30 deliveries. Captain Chris Green added 15 runs.
Lahore Qalandars’ Mudassar Riaz and Mohammad Irfan shone with the ball with 2/30 and 3/30, respectively.
Lahore Qalandars impressed with the bat, with four of their top five batsmen scoring 21 or more.
Wicket-keeper batsman Ameer Hamza made 39. Sikandar Khan and Tabryz Ahmed’s partnership piled on runs but the team could only manage 8/158, falling short by 16 runs.
Earlier during the tour Lahore Qalandars were victorious in their warm-up matches against Randwick Petersham, TNC All Stars and Sydney University.
