KP PA refers two questions to standing committee

Peshawar—The provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tuesday referred two questions of Fakhar-e-Azam Wazir of PPP to standing committee on Zakat & Usher for conducting inquiry into the irregularities in the distribution of Zakat and selection of the members of local Zakat committees.
The assembly resumed proceedings with Deputy Speaker, Dr. Meher Taj Roghani in the chair.
Speaking on his question regarding irregularities in the distribution of Zakat Fund in his home district Bannu, the PPP MPA stated that the detail information provided to the House lacking the numbers of the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and complete address of the beneficiaries.
He said that in a situation when no one can move in the province without identity cards, then how the persons succeeded in getting zakat fund and requested the chair to refer the question to standing committee to conduct inquiry into the matter.
The Provincial Minister for Zakat & Usher, Habib-ur-Rehman opposed the referring of the question to the standing committee and asked the PPP legislator to select 5 to 6 beneficiaries to conduct inquiry into the matter. However, he later agreed with the demand of the member to refer the matter to the standing committee concerned.
The second question referred to the standing committee was irregularities in the selection of the members of local Zakat committees.—APP
