KP MPs to meet PM over CPEC western route

Peshawar—Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Monday declared in categorical tone that the KP would stand for its rights in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and that the government and opposition parties were on the same page over the CPEC projects and would make no compromise over their principled stance in this regard.
He made these observations while chairing a meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly parliamentary leaders held here on Monday to discuss the projects to be completed in the province under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The meeting was attended by parliamentary leaders of both opposition and coalition parties.
The meeting decided to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and demand due share for KP in the projects to be completed under CPEC. It was also decided that written agreement would be signed with the Federal Government so that the Federal Government could not deceive the province again. The meeting also decided to present a resolution in KP assembly for the rights of the province in CPEC.
The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on this occasion ordered constitution of a three members committee to explore possibilities of efficient economic opportunities on western route of CPEC and to keep liaison with the federal board of investment to safeguard rights of the province.
The committee comprised of Sahibzada Saeed Chairman Strategic Support Unit Dr Syed Alam Masood Ulasi Tehreek and Ghulam Dastagir Chairman Economic Zone Development and Management Company.
The Chief Minister further elaborated that western route was short and secured as compared to the eastern route. He demanded extension of the facilities planned for the eastern route to the western route as well.
Provincial Ministers Inayatullah Khan, Shah Farman, Aneesa Zaib Tahir Khaili, Special Assistant Akbar Ayub, Parliamentary Secretary Dr Haider Ali, leader of Ulasi Tehreek Dr Said Alam Masood, Chairman Strategic Support Unit Sahibzada Saeed, Secretary Industries Dr Akbar Durrani, Chairman Economic Zone Development and Management Company Ghulam Dastagir and other attended the meeting.
Samita Khawar Director Public Sector and Government Practice delivered a presentation on the importance of CPEC and its benefits for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The expert underlined the need of undertaking a detailed study for chalking out economic identification economic map on the western route.
Dr Said Alam Masood informed that besides short and secured, the western route was also nearest to south Asian states and was passing through a built rich of mineral resources.
The participant termed the western route as environmental friendly and stressed the need of provision of economic opportunities on the route enabling it to play an efficient role in the development of the marginalized areas.
