PESHAWAR : The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has renewed its efforts to battle the deadly dengue virus in the province by initiating a new campaign, on Wednesday.
Dengue virus has claimed several lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the problem is far from over for residents of the province.
In order to defeat the virus and rid people of the menace once and for all, the provincial government has initiated a new campaign to eliminate dengue virus by targeting its larva through a door-to-door campaign.
The campaign is a result of cooperation obtained by the provincial government from the World Health Organisation.
According to details, 500 teams have been put on alert by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Department of Health to go to every house in search of mosquitoes carrying the virus and their larva.
The teams have been tasked with the objective of eliminating the virus from the province before the next season commences.
Several people are being admitted into hospitals across the province due to dengue virus and as many as 55 people have already died due to the condition.
The PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been criticised for failing to tackle the crisis by political opponents including PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
