KP announces perks, privileges for LB reps

Peshawar—Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan says, massive powers given to the local governments in KP were unprecedented in the country’s history.
Addressing the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Local Bodies Representatives Convention here Monday, Imran Khan said that the local bodies system was for the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and not the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf as alleged by some quarters.
He also announced allowanced for the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa local government representatives said that the KP government has given 30% development funds to local governments.
He asked if ever before 30% developmental funds were given to Local Government. Referring to the protesting local bodies representatives, Imran Khan said that those who are protesting, they should respond who gave them so much funds.
He said that the LB representatives should be thankful to Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. “If anyone thinks I will be pressurized due to their dirty politics, they don’t know me,” he warned opponents. Imran Khan assured the LB representatives to resolve the issues they are faced with. He said that the KP Local Government system is an entirely new system, adding that problems will be created but eventually they will get grip over them. He said that never before in history of Pakistan, such massive powers were given to Local Governments.
Meanwhile, APP adds that KP CM on the occasion, he announced that total budget of LG would be increased from Rs 43 billion to Rs 50 billion in the next fiscal budget.
He said that the government has decided to give Rs. 40,000 monthly salary to District Nazims while Rs. 30,000 stipends to Naib Nazim, Town Nazim and Tehsil Nazim. Similarly, Village-hood and neighborhood councilors would get Rs. 10,000 salaries per month.
He also announced Rs10,000 monthly allowance for phone and Rs. 10,000 for office. Meanwhile, the CM KP announced promotion of secretaries of local bodies.
