Administrator’s surprise visit to Bagh Ibne Qasim
Karachi—The Administrator Karachi, Laeeq Ahmed, has said that District Metropolitan Corporations (DMCs) in the city would be provided garbage-lifting vehicles and mechanical sweepers to help maintain cleanliness.
He said on Sunday that the DMCs would be given five such vehicles each as well as one mechanical sweeper so that cleanliness work should also be carried out in the metropolis at night.
Laeeq Ahmed also asked the DMCs and the District Council to jointly initiate insecticide spray and anti pye-dog drive to eliminate stray dogs.
It was pointed out that committee would submit its report for resolving the issues between the KMC and the DMCs.
The Administrator Karachi was of the view that it is the joint responsibility of the KMC and the DMCs to resolve civic problems of the people of the city.
He pointed out that the KMC had provided a beautiful park at Sea View.
However, the Administrator regretted, garbage was dumped in a large quantity at the park and that the lifting of the garbage if started even today would take quite a long time.
He directed that planning be undertaken for lifting of such garbage.
Meanwhile, the Administrator Karachi, Laeeq Ahmed, undertook a surprise visit to Bagh Ibne Qasim.
A statement of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Sunday said that he took a strict notice of improper activities in the park.

He was of the view that certain individuals and ‘mafias’ indulge in such activities in the park late in the evenings.
The Administrator warned such elements to desist from such activities or else strict action would be taken against them.
He said that gardens and recreational facilities have been set up to provide healthy activities to families that visit such places.
