Karachi—The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Laeeq Ahmed has given 10 days’ deadline to revenue recovery departments for bringing improvement in recovery condition after that the concerned officer would be removed from his post in case he did not performed better.
Instructions for improvement in the financial management system were also issued during a meeting on Tuesday with the departmental heads of finance and recovery departments of KMC.
A detailed analysis of KMC income and expenditures was presented during the meeting in which the Administrator said the forthcoming budget must be a realistic one for which the departmental heads should be consulted while setting up the revenue target and the concerned department must ensure achieving the target.
He said unnecessary expenditures must be curtailed including honoraria and the finance departments should be consulted before initiating any new project.
Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said making KMC financial condition better was our duty and this could be done only after achieving revenue recovery target.
The heads of recovery departments must therefore take especial interest in this work as the officer who did not perform better after ten days will be replaced.
He said the dues of the three departments including Local Taxes Education and Medical which had been transferred to DMCs would have to pay by the concerned DMC itself.
KMC has no responsibility to clear these dues; therefore, concerned departments should collect the record of such dues and send it to the DMCs.
