Killed in the name of honour

Four members of a family were killed in the name of honour in Punjab’s Haifzabad district on Friday. A man murdered his daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren in the village of Nasoowal in Pindi Bhitiyan after his daughter ran away from home four years ago to marry a man of her choice. The accused, Gulzar, attacked the family in the night. After murdering the family, he fled from the scene. The police have registered a case against him, while the bodies have been shifted to District Head Quarters hospital for autopsy.
Honour killing is on the rise in the country with no steps taken to resolve it and save the women lives. Women are the backbone of nation, if the backbone is broken how come a nation can support itself. There is a direct need to save the rights of women and practical steps taken by govt so that women don’t face violence on daily basis and help abolish the honour killing that has become a grave problem.
