KHCBA: Lives of Asiya, Fehmeeda in danger in lockup

Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHCBA) has strongly condemns the continued detention of Asiya Andrabi and Fehmida Sofi as well as imposition of 35th order of detention under PSA on senior Hurriyat Conference leader Masrat Alam Bhat by the government.
In a statement, a spokesman of the lawyers’ body demanded immediate release of Asiya and her aide and alleged life of both was in danger in police station Rambagh.
The spokesman said that Asiya Andrabi who is an Asthama Patient and is under regular treatment of Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar, was arrested on 26.04.2017 from her residence at 11:30 pm and lodged in Police Station Rambagh on the basis of a compliant registered against her by Police Station Soura under section 107/151 Cr.P.C.
The duo was ordered to be released from custody by Tehsildar Executive Magistrate 1st Class Iddgah and the order was served on the police authority on May 9 itself, but Asiya and Fahmeeda were not released though there was no other FIR registered against her in any police station.
“Thus from 09.05.2017 Asiya Andarbi and Fehmida Sofi have both been held in unlawful custody at Police Station Rambagh where because of unhygienic conditions Asiya Andrabi has fallen seriously ill,” the spokesman said.
“She was today taken to Chest Disease hospital Srinagar where doctors advised the police to admit her in the hospital because she needs oxygen input. Instead, the police brought her back to Police Station Rambagh where she has been again lodged in an open and unhygienic conditions allowing the dust and dirt to enter her room straightway, which is causing trouble to her and putting her life in danger.”
The manner and method in which police authorities have lodged Asiya Andrabi in Police Station Rambagh, the Bar said, amply shows that they have no respect for rule of law and they want her to die in police custody itself due to suffocation and deficiency of oxygen, which “besides being highly inhuman is barbaric and immoral”.—KR
